Harry Lange - Architect of Space

"My god, it's full of drawings!"

This new, beautiful, monolithic book (sorry, had to do it...) just landed on our collective desk and we're a little excited about it, to say the very least. Everyone has heard of 2001, Kubrick and Clarke, but how many have heard of Harry Lange, the man behind the design of the film? And by "the film" we mean pretty much the entire movie. We are talking about the architecture and engineering behind the Clavius moonbase, the space stations, their interiors, including all the furniture, all in absolutely exquisite detail, the astronauts' spacesuits, their machinery, computers and their UIs... and that's just scratching the surface of this tome, which we would consider something of a modernist, technical design bible.

This is a book for lovers of architecture, interior design (particularly mid-century modern), lighting design, material design, UI design, character design, fashion, technical/engineering design, film, stage design and space itself. There aren't many people who wouldn't adore this gorgeous book.

It can be picked up from Amazon here.
